Round Barn Photography
Photography captured my heart as a teen, but the slow process of film development kept it as an occasional hobby. Digital cameras changed everything. In 2013, a spontaneous stop on a drive with my new smartphone reignited my passion. By spring, I was hooked on my first DSLR digital camera.
My work blends my parents’ creative legacies. My mother, a graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago, taught me to see the world through lines, shapes, and colors. My father, a prolific railroad photographer, filled over 100,000 slides with trains, planes, and more—his work now graces book covers and illustrates magazine articles. Although they are no longer here, their voices still guide me: Mom saying “every image is just a collection of shapes” and Dad’s voice “fill the frame.”
Being from the Midwest grounds my work. The challenge is to find the essence of a scene—whether a glowing sunset, a rusty 1940s license plate, or a train’s intricate details. Every image tells a unique story, and they are all from my cameras. I frequently use technology to enhance photos or create clear digital art, but never use AI to generate the actual images.
My photo greeting cards and wall art invite you to rediscover the beauty in everyday moments.
