40 Century Grain was born from a simple conviction: the future of biodiversity will be decided on working farmland, the same acres that grow our food.

Founder Beth Robertson-Martin spent nearly a decade leading pollinator and biodiversity habitat work at General Mills, helping plant tens of thousands of acres of bee-friendly habitat on supplier farms. She started 40 Century Grain to prove a food company could do that work directly, at its own source, and invite the people who eat the food to be part of it.

We make baking mixes, granolas, and flours from perennial and regeneratively grown grains, including Kernza®, a perennial grain whose roots reach ten feet down, holding soil, storing carbon, and feeding life below ground. We source from a network of small and mid-size family farms across the central United States, and we invest directly in that land, restoring native prairie field by field.

Our name honors Farmers of Forty Centuries, a record of farming that kept the same land fertile for four thousand years. That’s the horizon we bake toward: food that tastes good today and leaves the ground better for tomorrow.
